Sitaleki Timani has been ruled out of the three-Test series against the British & Irish Lions.
The Australia lock broke his right thumb during a Super Rugby game last Friday, and has been told he will require surgery.
The Australian Rugby Union also confirmed that back-row forward Scott Higginbotham has undergone scans after dislocating a shoulder two days ago. Both Timani and Higginbotham were replaced in Australia's preliminary 25-man squad squad by Kane Douglas and Ben McCalman, respectively.
