Johnnie Beattie has been named in the Barbarians' 33-man squad for the forthcoming fixtures against England, Ireland and Wales.

The Scotland internationalist will aim to use his first involvement with the side as a springboard back into the national squad.

The breakaway forward, who is moving from Glasgow to Montpellier, has been out of favour with Andy Robinson, the Scotland coach, for more than a year following injury problems and a dip in form.

The England centre Mike Tindall, the Wales fly-half Stephen Jones and the Scotland scrum-half Rory Lawson are among the debutants behind the scrum for the invitational side, coached by John Kirwan, with the Samoa pair Sailosi Tagicakibau and Eliota Fuimaono-Sapolu to make their first appearances.

The Barbarians begin their tour against England at Twickenham on May 27, before meeting Ireland at Gloucester's Kingsholm ground two days later.

The trip will conclude with a Millennium Stadium meeting against Six Nations champions Wales, where Shane Williams will make his final appearance before hanging up his boots.
