Scotland's women suffered the same fate as their male counterparts when they went down in the RBS Six Nations meeting with Italy at Broadwood Stadium yesterday.

Early tries by Maria Magatti and Michela Sillari, both converted by Veronica Schiavon gave the Italians an early lead and, although Nuala Deans clawed back three points with a penalty, Magatti bagged her second score to hand the visitors a 19-3 interval lead.

The Scots restarted well and the pressure led to the visitors having two players yellow carded. However, they failed to add to their points tally and a self-converted try by Schiavon ensured there was no way back for the Scots.

Nevertheless, the hosts grabbed their first try of the championship when Jade Konkel touched down with six minutes left to play. However, Italy had the final word when Magatti completed her hat trick to cap another disappointing day for the Scots.
