Scotland's caretaker coach has admitted that an improved RBS 6 Nations Championship finish is unlikely to lead to more Scots playing on this summer's British & Irish Lions tour of Australia.

It has become customary in the 21st century for Scotland to have little more than token representation on the combined team's four-yearly tours of the southern hemisphere and, in spite of the side finishing in the top half of the table for the first time in seven years, Scott Johnson predicts it will be the same again.

"If you asked me to go out on a limb, looking at today's results, probably two or three would maybe get there," he said following Saturday's 23-16 defeat in Paris.
