''For many generations, locals, business people and tourists
have used the Stag Hotel for casual refreshments as well as holiday breaks,'' said Adam Lansdown. ''This includes people visiting the local hospital, council headquarters or needing overnight accommodation while awaiting the early ferry to Islay.''
The Stag is an all-round independent two-star hotel. With 18 guest bedrooms and two bars, conference suite/function room and restaurant, the hotel also has a detached bungalow and staff annexe, making it suitable for a variety of company owners or those seeking a change of lifestyle. Trade has been improving in recent years in response to upgrading.
''At offers over (pounds) 350,000, the business fits into the expectation and ability of the independent hotelier,'' said Lansdown.
In the east of Scotland, in conjunction with Rettie & Co, the company is selling a hotel near Aberlady with a (pounds) 1m price tag. Green Craigs is a country house with a spectacular water's edge location on the Forth adjacent to Kilspindie Golf Club and with views across Gosford Bay to Edinburgh, Fife and beyond.
Ray and Olly Craig are retiring overseas to Spain after 13 years at the hotel, which has six letting bedrooms, restaurant, bar, lounge, function room, owners cottage and 2.5 acres of private ground.
