SCOTLAND'S Euro 2008 qualifier against France on September 12 next year has been confirmed as taking place in the Parc des Princes in Paris.

The French Football Federation had to find an alternative venue to the Stade de France for the visit of Walter Smith's side as the stadium will be in use at the time for the rugby World Cup. The home of Paris StGermain has been selected instead and Scotland and Scottish clubs will have good memories of the ground.

A late Gavin Hastings' try gave the national rugby team a first victory at the ground in 1995, while Dick Advocaat's Rangers side overcame PSG on penalties in the UEFA Cup in 2001.

The switch does, though, mean an inevitable reduction in tickets for the Tartan Army as the 50,000capacity Parc des Princes is some 30,000 seats short of France's regular venue for major internationals.

Meanwhile, Scotland's Under-19 side are set to play in front of the largest sports crowds in Canadian history next year.

The Scots qualified for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup with a superb performance in the European Championships in Poland, where they reached the final before losing to Spain. That ensured them a place on the world stage next year in Canada.

FIFA have revealed ticket sales for the tournament have already topped the 350,000 mark and it will become the biggest sports event to be held in the country if, as expected, all games become a sell-out.

Scotland are one of 24 teams in the tournament. The draw takes place in March, with matches in Victoria, Burnaby, Edmonton, Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto.
