THE Scottish success story lingers on in the girls' doubles.

Glasgow's Anna Brogan continued her excellent Wimbledon tournament when she and her English doubles partner Freya Christie claimed a 7-5, 6-2 vicotry against Usue Maitane Arconada and Charlotte Robillard-Millette to book their place in the quarter finals. Brogan, who trains out in Bradenton, Florida, had opened a few eyes back on Monday when she knocked No 1 seed Marketa Vondrousova out of the girls' singles competition and she is determined to wring as much experience as she can out of her fortnight in SW19. They now face J Teichmann of Switzerland and S Xu of China for a place in the semi-finals.

Brogan and her fellow 17-year-old Maia Lumsden have been pals as they have come through the Scottish coaching ranks and Lumsden too, who has also been out in Florida, training with illustrious veteran coach Nick Bolletieri, also continued to make progress through the draw. Lumsden, originally from Bearsden, and her American partner Ingrid Neel were impressive 6-3, 6-2 winners against Michaela Gordon and Claire Liu and waiting for them in the next round are No 3 seeds Dalma Galfi of Hungary and her countrywoman Fanni Stollar. Lumsden may fancy her chances, having taken the scalp of Galfi in the first round of the girls' singles on Monday.

Ewan Moore of Prestwick, the only male junior representing Scotland here this fortnight, wasn't so lucky in the boys' doubles. He and his partner Jonathan Gray of England went down in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, to Nam Hoang Ly of Vietnam and Sumit Nagal of India, the No 8 seeds.
