They are the New Wave of Scotland’s film and TV actors.

We’ve put together a list of 50 young stars who’ve already taken their first steps in the profession and are aiming for the heights. They’re all under 30, were born or live in Scotland, and have at least one significant role to their credit already.

  • Age: 17
  • From: Edinburgh
  • Credits: Most famous as Liberty Gordon in BBC show Waterloo Road. She also appeared in 2010 film Cola Dan.
  • Did you know: Adiza plays the piano and is also able to breakdance.
  • Name: Jordan Patrick Smith
  • Age: 23
  • From: Fife
  • Credits: Most famous as Andrew Robinson in Neighbours. He has also appeared on TV in H2O: Just Add Water, Home and Away and Mortified.
  • Did you know: Jordan almost had to turn down the part of Andrew Robinson because he was in hospital when he was offered the role and had to be on set the next day.
  • Name: Kirstie Steele
  • Age: 21
  • From: Glasgow
  • Credits: Most famous as Imogen Stewart in Waterloo Road. She has also appeared on TV in The KNTV Show, Jess the Border Collie and Butterfingers.
  • Did you know: Kirstie is a former Under-10 British Rock 'n' Roll champion.
  • Name: Louise Stewart
  • Age: 26
  • From: Glasgow
  • Credits: Most famous for her roles in Burnistoun and Videogaiden. She has also appeared in short film, Mixed Messages.
  • Did you know: Burnistoun writer Robert Florence is Louise’s uncle. Appears in the show with her partner Richard Rankin.
  • Name: Joanna Vanderham
  • Age: 20
  • From: Perth
  • Credits: Most famous as Denise Lovett in The Paradise. She has also appeared on TV in The Runaways, Young James Herriot and Above Suspicion: Silent Scream.
  • Did you know: Joanna’s dad, Tom, is Dutch.
  • Name: Mark Wood
  • Age: 29
  • From: Aberdeen
  • Credits: Most famous as Angus Fergus in Trinity. He has also appeared on TV in How Not to Live Your Life, Sea of Souls, The Verdict and Taggart.
  • Did you know: Mark has just completed work on up-coming film My Brother’s Keeper in which he plays James Kilroy.
