What's the story?

Stock up on strawberries and cream, crack open the Pimm's. Wimbledon begins on Monday (July 1).

I love tennis. But it just won't be the same without Andy Murray, will it?

What do you mean? He's playing.

Hang on a second. Didn't he retire?

Not strictly. The two-time Wimbledon champion and double Olympic gold medallist announced he would likely retire at some point this year. This sparked mass hysteria and a long period of public mourning during which everyone forgot what he actually said.

Murray is making a tentative comeback from what he hopes was career-saving hip surgery. He won the Queen's doubles title with Feliciano Lopez last weekend.

Well, that's good news. So, when can I see him in action?

Murray has confirmed plans to play doubles at Wimbledon with four-times Grand Slam champion Pierre-Hugues Herbert. He would also like to play mixed doubles but is yet to find a partner.

No one wants to play with him?

According to Murray: "I have spoken to a couple of players. I've been rejected a couple of times so far."

Uuurgh. This is giving me flashbacks to being picked last for team sports at school. Is Andy Murray my kindred spirit?

I don't think so. So far, everyone from Maria Sharapova to his 85-year-old granny Shirley Erskine has offered to step up.

Fair enough. Shall I pop along to Costco now and bulk buy the Pimm's?

Excellent. See you on the sofa.
