FOLLOWING the humiliating closure of the Tavistock clinic in London, calls have been made by David Bell, a former governor of Tavistock, and by the feminist activist group For Women Scotland, for Glasgow’s own Sandyford gender clinic to be closed. So far, the Scottish Government appears to be dragging its feet about whether to close Sandyford.

CRICKET Scotland, indeed, cricket in Scotland is profoundly racist, or so it would appear from the international coverage given to a report into this issue. But reading the stories about this “shocking” report, it seems like nobody has actually read it.

GARETH Southgate and the morally superior administrators who run English football are at it again, this time in the form of a campaign to cut out what they call “sexist hate”.

IF we needed a reminder about the emptiness of modern politics, the Boris/Tory leadership show has once again demonstrated where we are. As it happens, as far back as John Major replacing Margaret Thatcher, we can already see the emptying out of politics.

DISCUSSIONS are under way in the Scottish Parliament to develop a conversion therapy law that could make it a criminal offence to dissuade a person from being gay or transgender. Even the Church of Scotland has called on the government to ban conversion therapy.

AS I write, universities across the country are developing seemingly anti-racist policies, practices and even jobs that will ensure that a certain form of anti-racism is adopted into the heart of their mission statements and their procedures.

WE watched Rangers fans scrambling for the paltry 9,000 tickets on offer to watch a European final last week. Frankfurt had a similar number of tickets and yet by kick off, the 42,000-seater stadium was filled with what looked like nothing but Rangers and Frankfurt fans. Who were the “spare” 24,000 tickets for?

CAN anyone reading this remember the teacher who was key to their understanding of sex and relationships? No. Me neither. In fact, the idea that I would gain this “knowledge” from teachers, for me at least, seems a bit bizarre and weird.

COVID restrictions have been lifted and there is an acceptance, now at least, that this is a disease that is here to stay but is also one that is not a threat to society – indeed it is not a threat to the vast majority of individuals. However, despite this, a significant number of people are still wearing masks. Why?
