LAW firm Morton Fraser has strengthened its employment team with the appointment of a new partner, David Walker, to its Glasgow office.

Mr Walker joins the firm from Dundas & Wilson, where he was a partner for over 15 years.

Ranked highly in the legal directories for both employment and immigration, Mr Walker has been accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in employment law since 1996.

He joins Morton Fraser with experience in contentious and non-contentious employment matters, as well as a track record of advising on industrial disputes.

The Legal 500 states he "stands out for his 'analysis, industry knowledge, and strength of advice'."

New ASPA convener

GORDON Robertson has been elected as the new convener of the Association for Scottish Public Affairs (ASPA), the representative body for the public affairs sector in Scotland.

Mr Robertson is director of communications at Edinburgh Airport and has 15 years experience in public relations, public affairs and marketing. He previously served as secretary of ASPA and is a member of the board of Marketing Edinburgh.

Mr Robertson succeeds Lindsay Scott, who was formerly communications and campaigns manager for Age Scotland. He said: "We are entering an important year for the public affairs industry with more attention than ever on the Scottish Parliament, the prospect of lobbying bills before the UK and Scottish Parliaments, and, of course, the Scottish independence referendum.

"I'm looking forward to working with my committee colleagues on behalf of ASPA members to promote the work and good practice of the public affairs industry in Scotland to show how we make a positive contribution to the work of government and parliament."

Sisley gets on board

MARTIN Sisley, the managing director of Ocean Installer UK, has been appointed to the board of industry body Subsea UK.

Mr Sisley was one of three elected to the board following a members' ballot at the Subsea UK annual general meeting (AMG).

Subsea UK is the industry body and focal point for the British subsea industry and represents around 90% of the industry. Its board comprises nine industry professionals.

Mr Sisley said: "I am very proud to have been appointed and I am looking forward to contribute to the great work that Subsea UK is doing on behalf of the industry."

Mr Sisley has been managing director of Ocean Installer UK since the company was established in the UK in Aberdeen in May 2012.
