THAI Leisure Group, the company behind the Chaophraya restaurants in Glasgow and Edinburgh, has set its sights on expansion in Scotland after securing a £10 million funding package from Santander.

The group, which currently has 11 restaurants and four cocktails bars across Scotland and the north of England, will use the funding to open six new sites this year and eight in 2016.

The first openings will be in Oxford and Cambridge, followed by the roll-out of its Thaikhun street food concept in Guildford and Nottingham.

A spokesman said expansion in Scotland is on the agenda, but said no sites had yet been identified.
