C&D Auction Marts sold 93 store heifers in Dumfries on Monday to a top of 243.3p per kg and an average of 197.7p (-9.2p on the fortnight), while 160 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 247p and levelled at 215.7p (+2.1p). Thirty-five store, B&W bullocks sold to 176.2p and averaged 156p (-20.7p).

United Auctions sold 8732 store lambs at Stirling on Monday. Top prices and averages for selected breeds: Suffolks to £63 and averaged £53.32 (-£2.70 on the week); Texels £63.50 and £50.42 (-£2.70); Mules £53 and £45.50 (-£2.83);

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 16 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 257p and an average of 239.4p (+2.2p), while 14 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 236p and levelled at 211.7p (-2.4p). Ten prime, B&W bullocks sold to 161p and averaged 149.6p (-0.8p).

In the rough ring 22 beef cows averaged 129.1p (+1p) and 60 dairy cows levelled at 100.1p (+3.1p).

The firm also sold 3389 prime lambs to a top of £83.50 per head and 180.2p per kg to average 147.5p (-0.9p).

The 842 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £117.50 for a Texel and £58.50 for Blackfaces.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 16 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1370.25 per head and 240p per kg to average £1235.34 and 222.2p, while a prime bullock fetched £1403.15 or 211p.

In the rough ring 55 beef cows averaged 124.3p and 125 dairy cows levelled at 90.6p. Thirteen bulls averaged 122.2p.

The firm also sold 14 commercial dairy cattle to a top of £1500 for a Friesian calved-heifer and an average of £1167.14, while 9 pedigree heifers peaked at 1600gns for a calved-Friesian and levelled at £1379.16.
