Surveyor G+S makes senior moves

CHARTERED surveyor Graham + Sibbald has promoted partner Calum Campbell to lead its Glasgow office, with David Ross stepping up to become head building surveying.

Mr Campbell, who has been with G+S for more than 15 years, has experience of industries such as healthcare and the petroleum and roadside sector, which he continues to head for the firm.

Mr Ross has been with the company for 30 years and will continue to develop the building surveying and architectural departments. He succeeds former head of building surveying Norman Fisher, who retired last month.

Mr Campbell said: “This restructuring will ensure a smooth transition for our clients.

“The office continues to expand, having recently announced three new associates and taken on seven new members of staff over the past few months. This brings our total numbers in Glasgow to almost fifty staff and we continue our commitment to bring young talent in to the business with three of these appointments being at graduate level.”

French Duncan promotes Linklater to partner

FRENCH Duncan, the Scottish mid-tier accountancy firm, has promoted director Harry Linklater to the position of partner.

Mr Linklater held various roles with “big four” and mid-tier firms before joining French Duncan in 2011. Based in Edinburgh, where is part of the firm’s corporate advisory team, he has advised clients on acquisitions, disposals, due diligence, share valuation and fundraising.

As partner, his role at French Duncan has been broadened to include entrepreneurial services.

Managing partner Graeme Finnie said: “I’m delighted to welcome Harry to the partnership. Harry is a great business developer who builds strong relationships with clients quickly and is perfectly suited to the role of partner for our entrepreneurial services division whist continuing to front our busy corporate advisory offering in Edinburgh.

“Harry will be at the vanguard of our programme of change as we seek to anticipate market demands with the introduction of a range of significant initiatives over the months ahead.”

Peters is new boss for BAM in UK

GLASGOW-based BAM Properties has appointed Dougie Peters as managing director.

Mr Peters has succeeded John Burke, who is retiring after nearly 25 years with the UK business, owned ultimately by the Amsterdam listed Royal BAM Group,

Mr Peters is a chartered accountant who trained with KPMG, after which he held a number of positions within both commercial and residential property companies.

He joined BAM Properties as finance director in 2005.

Mr Peters said: “I relish the role ahead, particularly at a time in the market with so many opportunities for a developer that has imagination and a real feel for what appeals to investors and occupiers. BAM Properties is a great business with a fantastic team of talented people that can make things happen in this environment.”
