Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 187 store heifers at Ayr on Thursday to a top of £1180 per head and 222.2p per kg to average £812.54 and 192.7p (+2.9p on the fortnight), while 309 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1235 and 246.2p to level at £894.71 and 203.2p (+2p). Seventy-five store B&W bullocks sold to £930 and 156.3p to average £662.07 and 135.2p (+14.8p).
C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 4288 prime hoggs in Longtown on Thursday to a top of £102 per head and 250p per kg to average 182.9p (+7.7p on the week).
The firm also had 3093 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £139 for Texels and averaged £72.63 (+£2.89), while light ewes peaked at £74 for Cheviots and levelled at £52.66 (+£5.43). Rams sold to £92 for a Texel and averaged £67.02.
