SME boost for Johnston Carmichael with director appointment

CHARTERED accountant and business adviser Johnston Carmichael is aiming to bolster its support of small and medium sized enterprises (SME) by appointing John Mason as a director.

Mr Mason, who joins the firm’s Glasgow office, specialises in advising clients in the SME market on accounting and business matters. His experience in acting as a trusted advisor and forming close working relationships with clients has led to a strong reputation in the SME sector, particularly amongst owner-managed and family businesses.

“Technology will impact the accounting market dramatically and there is a real need to work closely with clients to guide them through this period of change,” said Mr Mason. “As trusted advisors, we strive to keep our clients up to date at all times.”

He added: “Glasgow is a dynamic and entrepreneurial city where there are many opportunities for growth in the SME market. We’re here to support these businesses and help them to grow."

Private client team boost at Anderson Strathern

ANDERSON Strathern has boosted its senior private client team with the promotion of Catriona Miller to Partner.

The growth of the team reflects increased work-load for the East Lothian firm in the private client market and follows a number of senior appointments in 2015, bringing to over 50 the number of people in its private client team.

Ms Miller has worked at Anderson Strathern for the last 13 years and for the last two she has been leading the firm’s East Lothian practice from its Haddington office. She has more than 22 years of experience in advising on succession planning, wealth protection and tax planning.

Head of the Private Client team, Colin Henderson, said: “Catriona has taken the East Lothian practice from strength to strength and her promotion is thoroughly deserved.”
