GLASGOW-based Smart Metering Systems has said Paul Dollman intends to stand down as chairman with effect from the company’s general meeting on 26 May. The company, which manages the smart meters supplied to customers of energy firms, said Mr Dollman had indicated that he intented to step down from the board to concentrate on his other business interests. A former finance director of the John Menzies logistics business, Mr Dollman became chairman of Smart Metering Systems in November 2013 and received £75,000 fees in 2014. He is a non-executive director of Scottish Amicable Life Association Society and the Wilmington information business. Mr Dollman will be succeeded by Willie MacDiarmid, who became a non-executive director of Smart Metering Systems in 2014 after holding senior positions at Scottish Power and the EAGA energy services business. Last week Livingston-based smart meter firm Energy Assets said its directors had agreed the terms of a £198 million takeover offer from funds run by US private equity firm Alinda Capital Partners.
