SPACE Solutions, the Aberdeen-based office interiors specialist, has underlined its ambitions for further growth in the central belt by acquiring Glasgow’s haa design.

The deal will see will see the 10-strong haa team join up with Space Solutions, where the haa name will be retained. Its team will relocate to the Space Solutions office in Glasgow before the end of the first quarter.

Haa has worked on more than 400 contracts for clients such as JP Morgan, the University of the West of Scotland, Cisco, The Scottish Government and Glasgow City Council and Pinsent Masons since it was founded by Hugh Anderson in 1994.

The merger comes after Space Solutions reported in September that turnover generated by its Glasgow and Edinburgh offices had doubled in the previous two years. That growth had helped Space Solutions offset market pressures in Aberdeen, where activity has been depressed by the collapse in the price of oil since late 2014. It booked pre-tax profits of £250,000 on revenue of £36 million in the year to the end of June.

Steve Judge, managing director of Space Solutions, said: We believe the quality of the team and the experience haa brings to Space Solutions will be quite transformative in terms of the proposition we are able to offer clients and the merger is consistent with our strategy to add strength to our service and product lines across the group.”

Haa managing director Hugh Anderson said its approach to office design meant that “we realised we were very much on the same page as Space Solutions when we were approached and started talking about how we could join forces to deliver an even better ser-vice to customers.”
