ABERDEEN-based Eland Oil & Gas, which focuses on Nigeria, said it enjoyed the most successful six months in its history in the first half.

Chief executive George Maxwell said operational successes translated into a transformational financial performance.

The company achieved the first reported profit in its history, with a $44.7m surplus after tax compared with a $22.4m loss last time. It achieved record production of 11,250 barrels oil per day.

The Forcados terminal used to handle production was shut down from February 2016 to May last year following sabotage linked to militant activity.
