GLASGOW-based grocery supplier Locavore has secured £20,000 loan funding from Social Investment Scotland as it eyes expansion.

Reuben Chesters, founder of Locavore, said the backing from SIS had come at a pivotal time for the organisation as it moved to new premises to grow its offering.

The funds helped Locavore to stay on track to achieve objectives such as supporting the development of a more localised supply chain.

The funding deal was the 300th agreed by Social Investment Scotland, which has provided around £63 million support for community enterprises and the like since 2001. Chief executive Alastair Davis said the funder was helping organisations to prosper, benefitting marginalised communities in the process.
