United Auctions sold 48 pedigree Limousin bulls in Stirling on Monday to a top of 11,000gns and an average of£5182 (+£119 on the year for an 80 per cent clearance), while 47 pedigree Aberdeen Angus bulls peaked at 22,000gns and levelled at £5737 (+£674, also for an 80 per cent clearance). Fifteen pedigree Beef Shorthorn bulls sold to 12,000gns and averaged £4487 (-£634 for a 75 per cent clearance).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 12 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1427 per head and 243p per kg to average£1252 or 227.8p, while a prime bullock fetched 186p.
In the rough ring 70 beef cows averaged 92.5p and 95 dairy cows levelled at 83.5p. Eight bulls averaged 107.2p.
A plainer show of 9 dairy cattle sold to £1850 for a Holstein Friesian cow and averaged £1310.
Wallets Marts Ltd sold 817 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £90 per head and 191.5p per kg to average £68.69 or 161p (-1.2p on the week).
Cast sheep were dearer on the week with 74 heavy ewes selling to £88 for Halfbreds and averaging £61.16, while 101 light/export-type ewes peaked at £56 for Blackfaces and levelled at £33.90.
