C&D Auction Marts ltd sold 141 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 344.8p per kg and an average of 188.1p (-12.7p on the fortnight), while 227 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 332.3p and levelled at 205.3p (+0.3p). Twenty store, B&W bullocks sold to 164.8p and averaged 131.4p (+5p).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1492 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £86 per head or 191.1p per kg to average 162.3p (+6.9p on the week).
Cast sheep were slightly sharper on the week with 464 heavy ewes selling to £153.50 for Texels and averaging £77.80, while 401 light/export-type ewes peaked at £95 for Cheviots and levelled at £34.69.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 57 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 259p and an average of 221p (+3p), while 27 prime bullocks peaked at 242p and levelled at 209p (no change).
In the rough ring 93 beef cows sold to 161p and averaged 117p (+2p).
There were also 1426 prime lambs that sold to £107 and 197p to average £80 and 161.7p (+1.7p).
The 495 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £131 for Suffolks and average £79, while light ewe peaked at £75 for Cheviots and levelled at £36.
The firm also sold 12 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 239.5p and an average of 198.2p (-10.7p), while 23 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 229.5p and levelled at 202.9p (+17.9p). A couple of prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 162.5p and averaged 160p. Forty-one prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 223.5p and averaged 190.9p (+0.9p), while 19 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 178.5p and levelled at 150.8p (+4.4p).
In the rough ring 121 beef cows sold to 193.5p and averaged 115.2p (+4.4p), while 143 dairy cows peaked at 154.5p and levelled at 85.4p (+4.6p). Six bulls sold to 114.5p and averaged 98.7p (-3.2p).
There were also 1281 prime lambs that sold to £94.80 and 241.6p to average 167.6p (-3.5p).
The 270 heavy cast ewes forward sold to £93.50 for Texels and averaged £52.47, while 94 light ewes peaked at £57 for Swaledales and levelled at 329.98.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 15 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 260p and an average of 239p (+1p), while 5 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 242p and levelled at 235p (+4p). Ten prime, B&W bullocks sold to 152p and averaged 143p (no change).
In the rough ring 38 beef cows averaged 109p (-3p) and 39 dairy cows levelled at 86p (-2p).
There were also 1710 prime lambs that sold to £93 and 206p to average 158p (no change).
The 471 heavy cast ewes forward sold to £132 for a Texel and averaged £64.25, while 599 light ewes peaked at £66 for a Blackface and levelled at £38.34.
