A category B listed landmark university building in Glasgow is to undergo a multi-million pound revamp.
Kier Construction Scotland has been appointed to take forward the £9.7 million redevelopment of the six-storey Wolfson Building on behalf of the University of Strathclyde.
The move is part of an overall investment of £15.5m in the Wolfson Building to establish it as the centre of Strathclyde’s department of biomedical engineering.
The Morris and Steedman building, which was completed in 1972, was initially funded by the Wolfson family charity, a benefactor in areas including science and medicine.

The work is due to start and the Rottenrow building is expected to be completed by early 2020. The programme of work includes providing research and teaching laboratories, increased office accommodation for staff and students, and new social spaces for students.
The win builds on the higher education portfolio of projects that Kier is currently delivering, including the completion of a £14m redevelopment of Edinburgh College of Art and a £7.7m redevelopment of Murchison House, both for the University of Edinburgh.
Kier has also recently completed work at the University of Aberdeen, Abertay University, Robert Gordon University and the University of the West of Scotland.

Kier Construction, part of Kier Group, is one of four principal supply chain partners on the University of Strathclyde’s £250m framework to support the delivery of its ongoing capital investment plan.
