SCOTTISH Hydro-Electric owner SSE has appointed Ernst & Young as its new external auditor, following a competitive tender.

Perth-based SSE said EY would be its external auditor for the year ending March 31, 2020, subject to approval by shareholders at the energy company’s 2019 annual meeting. It added that KPMG, its current external auditor, would undertake the audit for the year ending March 31, 2019.

SSE audit committee chairman Peter Lynas said: “We thank KPMG for their excellent contribution as SSE’s auditor for many years and we look forward to working with EY in the future.”

The selection process included the audit committee as well as SSE chairman Richard Gillingwater and finance director Gregor Alexander.
