MACTAGGART & Mickel, the historic Glasgow -based housebuilder, has appointed a senior female executive to run its operation in England.

Joanne Casey, who has been with the firm for 10 years, has taken on the new role of managing director for its Homes England division. It comes as Mactaggart & Mickel continues to build its presence south of the Border from its base in Cheltenham, with its first homes in England, at Milton-under-Wychwood in Oxfordshire, on course to be marketed early this year.

Ms Casey will undertake the new role alongside her current duties as homes director, in which she played a key role in marketing homes at the former Glasgow 2014 Athletes’ Village for the City Legacy Consortium.

The appointment was announced as Mactaggart & Mickel unveiled a new corporate marque, which unifies its different business divisions under a single brand. The family-owned firm, which was established in 1925, is active in areas such as timber systems, strategic land buying, commercial property and lettings as well as housebuilding.

Ms Casey said: "I am very much looking forward to leading the talented team in Cheltenham. We have ambitious plans to market our homes across Oxfordshire. As we mapped out our strategy to expand into new markets, it became apparent that streamlining our identity into one marque was the clearest path to successfully grow the brand. It’s an exciting time for the next chapter of Mactaggart & Mickel as we roll out our new unified brand and expand our homes offering in England.”

Ed Monaghan, chief executive of Mactaggart & Mickel, said: "Throughout her time with Mactaggart & Mickel, Joanne has consistently delivered strong leadership and the success that has spurred our growth across Scotland, while epitomising our commitment to quality and service excellence.

"As the first ever managing director of our English homes division, I have no doubt that Joanne will be the ideal leader for our Cheltenham-based team; continuing the excellent work of colleagues in bringing forward some outstanding English developments.”
