PETROFAC boss Ayman Asfari enjoyed a 16% rise in his total pay to $2.25m in 2018, from $1.95m the preceding year, the oil services giant’s annual report shows. Mr Asfari’s base salary rose to $0.9m, from $0.84m. His bonus increased to $1.25m from $1m.

Chief financial officer Alastair Cochran’s total pay rose to $1.53m from $1.33m.

Petrofac, which is a big employer in Scotland, took a $95m hit to profits last year after suffering reverses on the Greater Stella field development project in the North Sea.

Net profits fell 2% annually, to $353m.
