SCOTT-MONCRIEFF has become the latest accountancy firm in Scotland to be snapped up by a bigger player.

The firm, which had 16 partners and 220 staff, has become part of the CogitalGroup, alongside Scottish peer Campbell Dallas. Campbell Dallas itself was acquired by Staffordshire-based Baldwins Group, which is ultimately part of the international CogitalGroup, in 2017.

As with the Campbell Dallas deal, the Scott-Moncrieff name will continue, with all staff and partners moving to the new owner.

The enlarged Scottish operation will have 45 partners and more than 500 staff working from 11 offices across the country, with combined fee income approaching £40 million. The deal will take effect on May 3.

Stewart MacDonald, managing partner at Scott-Moncrieff, said: “Joining Campbell Dallas and the CogitalGroup presents an exciting opportunity for our clients and our people.

“CogitalGroup leads the industry in using technology to deliver cutting edge services to clients, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing client needs. Together, Scott-Moncrieff and Campbell Dallas will be able to provide our clients access to a wider range of additional services and to more efficient ways of working.”
