WOOD has won two contracts to help upgrade facilities in Norway for local oil and gas giant Equinor.

Aberdeen-based Wood has been appointed to complete engineering design studies in connection with work on the Grane platform in the Norwegian North Sea and the Kollsnes gas processing plant onshore.

The contracts are thought to be multi-million dollar awards with the potential for lucrative follow up work as the modification projects progress.

Separately, US giant ExxonMobil is reported to have put its Norwegian oil and gas portfolio up for sale.

Neivan Boroujerdi at oil and gas consultancy Wood Mackenzie, noted: “ExxonMobil’s position is substantial enough to receive an attractive exit price.”

He added: “It’s a highly cash generative business with low operating costs, producing 150,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. The portfolio is predominantly operated by Equinor.”
