Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 40 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 238p/kg and an average of 208p (n/c), while 32 prime bullocks peaked at 224p and levelled at 200p (n/c).
In the rough ring 51 cast cows sold to 153p and £1233 to average 122p (n/c).
There were also 788 prime lambs that sold to £115 and 230p for Beltex to average 210p (-7p).
The cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £111 for Texels and average £90, while light ewes peaked at £85 for Cheviots and levelled at £68.
The firm also sold 26 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 240p and an average of 201p (-3p), while 25 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 226p and levelled at 197p (+3p). 56 prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 204p and averaged 174p (+2p), while 38 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 177p and levelled at 134p (-8p).
In the rough ring 117 cast dairy cows sold to 148p and averaged 104p (+3p), while 91 cast beef cows peaked at 177p and levelled at 124p (-5p). Seven young bulls sold up to 170p and averaged 121p (-13p).
There were also 1610 prime lambs that sold to £114 and 300p to average 215p (-5p).
In the cast sheep ring 222 heavy ewes sold to £127 for Dutch Texels and averaged £79, while 51 light ewes peaked at £59 for Swaledales and levelled at £51.
C & D Auction Marts Ltd held their fortnightly sale of store cattle in Dumfries yesterday. The 116 cattle forward were mainly dairy-bred.
Bullocks sold to 221p/kg and £1005 to average 193p. Heifers peaked at 230p and £1100 to average 191p. Bulls were up to 241p and £1005 and levelled at 232p.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1357 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £109 for a single Suffolk and 230p/kg for a pair of Texels, to average 208p (-6p). There were 235 cast sheep forward. Heavy ewes sold to £129 for a pair of Texels, while light/export-type ewes peaked at £56 for Blackfaces.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 25 prime cattle in Lanark yesterday to a top of 247p and £1420 for heifers, while prime bullocks peaked at £1250 and averaged 238p.
In the rough ring cast beef cows sold to £1170 and 133p, while dairy cows peaked at £1020 and 142p. Cast bulls were up to £ 1420.
In the sheep ring 919 prime lambs sold to £119 for Texels and 254p for another pen of Texels to average 208p (-11p).
The very large show of 1474 cast sheep was topped at £150 for Texel ewes, while lighter ewes peaked at £70 for Blackface.
