Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 26 prime heifers in St Boswells on Monday to a top of 244p/kg and an average of 210p (+4p), while 20 prime bullocks peaked at 235p and levelled at 208p (+5p).
In the rough ring 26 cast cows sold to £1190 and 159p to average 127p (-5p).
There were also 1501 prime lambs that sold to £108 and 257p for Beltex. The average price of prime lamb dropped to 172p (-11p) which brought St Boswells in line with other markets.
In the cast sheep section 670 ewes averaged £53 overall with heavy ewes peaking at £100 for Texels to average £75, while light ewes sold to £77 for Cheviots and levelled at £42.
The firm also sold 26 prime heifers in Carlisle on Monday to a top of 238p and an average of 197p (n/c), while 5 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 218p and levelled at 197p (-3p). Thirty-four prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 203p and averaged 176p (-7 p), while 10 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 172p and levelled at 152p (+22p).
In the Rough Ring 72 cast dairy cows sold to 136p to average 93p (+1p), while 56 cast beef cows peaked at 170p and levelled at 123p (-3p). Two cast bulls sold to 113p and averaged 98p (-15p).
There were also 1812 prime lambs that sold to £96 and 235p to average 176p (-6p).
In the cast sheep ring this week prices eased off a little when 204 heavy ewes sold to £136 for Texels and averaged £60 (-£10), while 108 light ewes peaked at £77 for Hill Cheviots and levelled at £39 (-£12).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 2367 prime lambs at Ayr on Monday to a top of £91 per head for heavy weight Texels and 194p/kg for Beltex, to average 173p (n/c).
In the cast sheep ring heavy ewes sold to £141 for Texel ewes. Mule ewes sold to £80, while light/export-type ewes peaked at £62.50 for Blackfaces.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 97 head of prime cattle at their sale on Monday. Prime heifers sold to a top of £1440 and 240p, while prime bullocks peaked at £1260. Prime bulls sold to 202p.
In the Rough Ring cast beef cows sold to £1255 and 140p, while cast dairy cows peaked at £845 and 130p.
There were also 2694 prime lambs forward which were topped at £95 per head and 209p for Texels. The overall average for prime lambs slipped to 172p (-5p) which was in line with other markets on Monday.
In the cast sheep ring 1385 cast ewes and rams were topped at £138 for heavy Texels, while light ewes peaked at £66 for Blackfaces.
