LAWRIE & Symington held its fortnightly sale of 436 Store Cattle in Lanark on Tuesday.
Bullocks sold to a top of £1,220 for a Charolais x and to 212.2p/kg for another Charolais from the same home, to average 193p/kg.
Heifers topped at £1,075 for a Charolais x or to 208p for a British Blue x to level at 186p. Dairy bullocks sold to a top of £900 for Fleckviehs to average 134p.
Messrs Craig Wilson sold 14 prime heifers at Ayr on Tuesday to a top of 230p/kg for a Charolais cross to average 212p, while seven prime bullocks sold to 218p and averaged 182p.
There were also 179 head sold in the rough ring with some real quality beef cows forward. Cast beef cows sold to £1,380 and £1,360 for two Limousin cows, while a cast Charolais cow also made £1,360. Top price per kilo was 172p for a Limousin. Cast dairy cows peaked at £900 for a Black and White. Seven cast bulls sold to £1300 for a Charolais and to 147p for another Charolais to average 103p overall. Eleven dairy cattle sold to £2000 for a Holstein Friesian heifer.
C&D Auction Marts had forward 9,047 store lambs and feeding ewes at Longtown on Tuesday.
A massive show of lambs showed an improved trade on the week. Beltex sold to £85.50 for a pen and £74.50 for others. Texels sold to £75 and £74, while Charollais were up to £70 and Suffolks to £66.
Cheviots (3,041) sold to £61.50 for hill Northies, while the 1,809 Blackface lambs were up as far as £65.50.
The 308 feeding ewes sold to £68 for heavy ewes and lighter hill ewes were up to £41.
The firm also had forward a catalogued entry of 245 rams at their late October sale at Longtown on Tuesday. The sale was topped at £450 for a Texel two-shear ram.
The firm also held their weekly sale of primestock in Dumfries yesterday.
There were 46 cattle forward which sold to 209p/kg for a prime Limousin, while OTM cattle peaked at £952 and 122p for a Limousin.
There were also 1167 prime lambs which sold to £88 and 204p. The 783 cast sheep were reported as being sharper on the week.
Messrs Craig Wilson had 686 prime lambs forward at their weekly sale in Newton Stewart yesterday. Top prices on the day were £81 for a Texel and 171p for a pen of 38 Charolais and the same price for a pen of Texels. The overall average price was 156p/kg.
Cast sheep sold to £79 for Texel cross ewes, while mules peaked at £54 and light/export-type ewes were topped at £46.50 for Blackfaces.
