THE prospect of tighter coronavirus restrictions has not deterred a prestigious furniture and interiors company from opening its first gallery in Scotland.

Timothy Oulton, which has more than 40 stores in major cities around the world, will unveil its “vintage elegance” experience when it opens its latest store on the first floor of Glasgow’s Princes Square. The “rich heritage and stylish design” of the Grade B-listed building has been hailed as the “perfect home” for the retailer, known for its “juxtaposition of tradition and modernity”.

Fellow Princes Square tenants Everyman Cinema, Kate Spade, Vivienne Westwood and Ted Baker also opened their first Scottish stores in the building. Tim Oulton, founder of the eponymous retailer, said: “We’ve wanted a store in Scotland for a long time, we’re lucky enough to have some fans of the brand here already, and hopefully we’ll be able to bring something a little bit different to Glasgow.

“It has the largest shopping district outside of London so it’s a great location, and the new gallery is in a fantastic high-end period building which suits us perfectly.”

Sarah Lulham of Princes Square owner Redevco said: “We are delighted that Timothy Oulton have chosen Princes Square for their first Scottish store. We love the brand and it’s a real coup for the retail sector in the city.”
