ScotRail have just introduced their new and improved free app that allows you to download train tickets straight to your phone.

You can now get access to mTickets and live journey information.

What are mTickets?

mTickets are the faster way to buy and use train tickets and are available for Advance, Singles and Returns.

You can now buy and download tickets straight to your mobile, instantly.

They'll be stored within the app, you then activate your digital ticket with a tap, and scan at the ticket gates to board.

You can pay for your mTicket on the ScotRail app using your credit or debit card, or Apple Pay.

Why use mTickets?

It means you can go contactless by downloading your ticket to your phone, and scanning at the gates or showing staff your ticket.

And once downloaded, you don’t need internet access to scan your mTickets at the gate so you can use off-line.

How to use mTickets

Step 1:Download the new app

Step 2: Create an account

Log in to an existing My ScotRail account or register via the app.

Step 3: Start using instantly

Search for train times and prices, make your purchase, download, and activate instantly.

Make sure you choose ‘mobile’ as your delivery method and when you travel, your mTicket will be checked by staff in the same way as a paper ticket would so when passing through the station gates, simply present the QR code on your phone to the reader on the gate to gain entry/exit.

You can still use your Railcard discount where a ticket is eligible and it can be applied to your mTicket, but make sure you take the Railcard with you.

If you already have the ScotRail App, you’ll need to update to keep using the platform with the new features.
