"I ALWAYS love when clients come to me with weird and wonderful requests for decorations. I get a real thrill sourcing something a bit different and helping to bring their ideas to fruition.”

Lynn Johnston, who owns wedding and event venue decoration business, Bespoke Touches, has added the final details to hundreds of celebrations. From LED dance floors to elaborate centrepieces, elegant chair covers to table linens, Lynn’s expertise helps to transform a venue into something special. From their showroom in Uddingston - which is housed within Covault Flexible Workspace in Cambuslang - Lynn and her partner, Steven McCusker, assist clients to create a beautiful setting for a wedding or event – through a little thought and a lot of planning.

Whether it’s mood lighting, tables, chairs and linen, crockery or LED backdrops, their products can be tailored to individual events. A team of people then put the plans into action by expertly setting up the room on the day.

Established nine years ago, Bespoke Touches has continued to grow and adapt to the market. Over recent years they have added more product lines available for hire and are always happy to go above and beyond to make an event one to remember.

They have also embraced social media, transforming how people find and interact with them. A recent Facebook video post revealed a new statement party feature they have launched: a tiered cake that can have a personal projection played out on it.

The business has come a long way since its humble beginnings.

“It was a friend of mine who originally set up Bespoke Touches,” explains Lynn. “She worked in a bank but rented out chair covers and some centrepieces as a side venture.”

“I helped her out for the first two years, sharing partnership of the business, picking up a lot of experience and loving the work. When my friend got a promotion in her job, Steven and I decided to buy her share and take over the company.”

Seven years on, Bespoke Touches has gained a strong reputation for providing reliable and quality decorations. Whether clients are looking to create something simple and elegant or with the wow factor, they are happy to accommodate.

Past events have featured elaborate feather centrepieces, giant Mr & Mrs light up signs and elegant chair covers tied in a bow. Importantly though, it’s the attention to detail that sets Bespoke Touches apart. From carefully arranged flowers to well-dressed tables, no accessory is too small.

“Some people come to us and know exactly what they want. They have a specific colour theme in mind and an idea of all the accessories they’d like to complete their venue,” continues Lynn. “Others prefer to come in for a chat and we’re pleased to offer them some guidance.”

“It’s good when people can come along to the showroom so I can meet them face to face. I like to get a feel for the couple and determine what they’re looking to create.”

Bespoke Touches hosts open days and appointments for prospective clients all year.

“Steven and I have been together 26 years and in this business for nine, but are yet to marry,” laughs Lynn. “But we absolutely love setting the scene for others, putting in the preparation and helping to create wonderful memories.”
