An 11-year-old boy has made an emotional plea to his missing grandmother in a bid to convince her to come home.

Matthew Jorgensen was aged just five when the then 52-year-old Patricia Duncan vanished from her Banffshire home. There has been no trace of her since, though her family believe she's still alive.

Now Matthew and his heartbreaking letter have featured in a special Channel 4 documentary and it's hoped that will persuade Patricia to get in touch.

In his letter, Matthew said: "Dear granny, I miss you very much.

"I know you were very nice to me, like when you read to me and took me down to see the seals.

"I just remember when my mum told me what had happened. My heart split in two.

"When you left I felt that it was my fault, that I had done something wrong. I would really like it for you to come back."

Mum-of-seven Patricia disappeared from her home - and husband George - in Buckie in November 2002.

Her family and the police were baffled as it was so out of character. But despite a huge search, which has reached as far as Malta, she's never been found.

However, her three sons and four daughters have never given up hope.

They were contacted by producers on Channel 4's Three Minute Wonders, which looks at the families of missing persons.

When the team visited Matthew's mum Johan, 31, they decided Matthew was the one who should star in the documentary.
