STEPHANIE Knox is the first girl to be signed by Rangers, but she will have to move to another club next year because the Ibrox side does not have a womens' team.

The 11-year-old, a pupil of Clune Park Primary, Port Glasgow, was spotted by at a Rangers' community development coaching session at Bellahouston Leisure Centre.

The girl is now involved in advanced training with boys at Rangers' Murray Park training ground.

When the attachment finishes at the end of the year, she hopes to join Kilmarnock, which runs one of the SPL's two official women's teams.

Talking about her signing, she said: "I was gobsmacked to get in.

"My mum and dad were really, really pleased and people have been coming up to me at school and saying well done."

Stephanie has joined 23 boys to play at Rangers, and make use of the top quality indoor and outdoor footballing facilities.
