Wow, Easter already and I've barely got over Christmas.

Anyway, it gives us the perfect reason to indulge in two passions at once.

There have been enough column inches written on chocolate and wine pairing to fill an encyclopaedia so I'm not going to bother.

All I'm going to suggest is you have fun finding out what goes best yourself while I chill a half bottle of Sauternes to go with my egg.

Which brings me on to a good question: when did you last try a proper sweet wine or pudding wine to use the old-fashioned terminology?

Australia and New Zealand are producing some absolute stunners these days, notably De Bortoli and Nelson, with the latter producing what I consider one of the world's finest in their Sweet Agnes Late Harvest Riesling.

Even served as cold as a penguin's butt cheeks, the peach and apricot aromas waft sensuously and the crisp finish is a refreshing delight to behold.

Don’t go for the really cheap ones though; there’s a huge difference in quality for not a lot of difference in price with these wines.

Wines merchants Harris & Co describe this as world class and I fully agree.

A world-class wine for this price, folks, just buy it.

Intense refreshing flavours and stunning acidity on the finish.

Harris & Co £29.50
