BBC fund invites bids

The BBC Performing Arts Fund, a charity committed to developing new talent, will open applications for its 2012 Music Fellowship scheme on August 13. The fund will award grants worth £200,000 to the arts sector, breaking down into awards of £10,000 each to a variety of music companies, organisations, venues and agencies to enable them to host a BBC Performing Arts Fund Music fellow.

Ping Pong, a feature-length documentary about eight pensioners in the run-up to the World Veterans Table Tennis Championships, comes to Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow this month. The Aberdeen and Edinburgh screenings at the Belmont Picturehouse and Cameo Picturehouse will include a Q&A with directors Hugh and Anson Hartford. The film will also be screened at the Glasgow Film Theatre.

Awards tickets on sale

Tickets for the Scottish Music Awards – The Tartan Clefs are on sale now. In the past, the event has featured performances from Scottish acts such as Biffy Clyro, Emeli Sande, Frightened Rabbit, Eddi Reader and Amy MacDonald. The awards, which are now in their 14th year, are the Nordoff-Robbins music therapy charity's biggest fundraising event in Scotland.

Illustrators to exhibit

Recoat Gallery in Glasgow has announced its next exhibition will be a duo show from Scottish illustrators Dwayne Bell and Lucy MacLeod, titled Illustrated Love Affair. Opening on August 17, the show is inspired by mid 20th-century lifestyle illustration, pulp fiction covers and vintage comic books.
