EDINBURGH's Jazz and Blues Festival has revealed its 40th anniversary programme.

It will take place from 13 to 22 July and feature acts including Kurt Elling, Davina & The Vagabonds, Mud Morganfield, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Jools Holland, Dave Holland with Zakir Hussain and Chris Potter, The Average White Band, Blind Boy Paxton, Curtis Stigers, Betty Lavette and Maggie Bell.

Celebrating the tri-centenary of New Orleans it will present a musicians including Soul Brass Band, to the UK debut of all-female traditional jazz band Shake ‘Em Up.

European Jazz comes from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Norway, Italy, Sweden and England with Mobo Award winners Soweto Kinch, Zara McFarlane and Zoe Rahman.

THE HEBRIDEAN Celtic Festival has added Colin Macleod to its line-up.

He releases his debut album ‘Bloodlines’ on 18 May, will share the bill at HebCelt this summer with headliners Deacon Blue, The Fratellis, Eddi Reader, Skippinish and Roddy Woomble.

In October, he will perform at BluesFest in London and Dublin alongside Van Morrison and Robert Plant.

HebCelt director Caroline Maclennan said: “This is such a massive year for Colin so we are so excited to have him join us at HebCelt.

“This is the amazing final piece in an incredible line-up we’ve put together this year and Colin’s growing band of fans will be thrilled he will be on the festival stage.”

Colin, who previously performed at HebCelt under the names C.Macleod and The Boy Who Trapped the Sun, signed a three-album deal with record label BMG last year.

GOVAN'S Old Parish Church is to be the venue for three concerts by the Glasgow Barons orchestra.

Launched in June 2017, The Glasgow Barons was set up by Music Director and Conductor Paul MacAlindin.

On May 3 it will play works by Bach, Elgar, Hamill and Vivaldi, and on May 22, works by Britten, Nicolson, Hamill and Tchaikovsky.

On July 26 it will play works by Sweeney, Barber, MacIver and Dvo?ák.
