COWAN - Edward James Suddenly at home on 2nd January 2022, aged 77, Edward "Ted" Cowan, Emeritus Professor of Scottish History, University of Glasgow. Loving husband to Lizanne, beloved brother to Eileen, Margaret, and Fiona, greatly missed by his children Karen, Morna and David and his eight grandchildren. He lived life to the fullest; we will never forget you. Service will be held at Roucan Loch Crematorium, Dumfries, on Tuesday 25th January at 1pm. I am grieved to hear of Ted's death. He bestrode the Scottish History world through his remarkable range of academic interests and contributions and through his warm, funny, engaging personality. He was unafraid to speak his mind on politics and contemporary issues but his forthright views were tempered by kindliness and humour and humanity. To Lizanne and to all Ted's family I extend my most sincere sympathy. Indeed he will not be forgotten. Elsa Hamilton
