JOHN Howie defends the men's singles title at the Whitecraigs open
tennis tournament which begins on Wednesday. Seedings:

Only two seeds have been named for the women's singles, as Susie Mair
is not defending. Karen Ross (Coylton), the national confined champion,
is at No.1 followed by Katie Harrison (Barnton Park).
Martina Graber (Austria) heads the overseas challenge in the Douglas
Buchanan Five Nations tournament at Helensburgh starting on Monday. The
main seedings are:
Girls. Under-16 -- 1, D Macdonald (Perth); 2, J Cunningham (England).
Under-18 -- 1, M Graber (Austria); 2, J Shaw (Ayr). Under-21 -- 1, M
Graber; 2, Elizabeth Adams (Cults). Boys. Under-16 -- 1, M Schiebling
(Austria); 2, S Doyle (Dublin). Under-18 -- M Stegner (Austria); 2, G
Alston (Giffnock). Under-21 -- 1, K Wood (Dunfermline); 2, M Watt
