HEAVY-WEIGHT hope Lennox Lewis had his fight with African champion

Proud Kilimanjaro cancelled at the last minute at Crystal Palace last

night. Kilimanjaro was refused permission to box on medical grounds by

the British Boxing Board of Control.

JOHNNY Nelson's British cruiser-weight title defence against Lou Gent

has been switched to the Norwich Sports Village on March 20. The bout

was orgiginally scheduled for March 28 at the York Hall, Bethnal Green.

BRITISH heavy-weight champion Gary Mason will face Texan Everett ''Big

Foot'' Martin at the Royal Albert Hall, London, on March 14 in his

continuing bid to establish himself as a potential world title

challenger.

The Wandsworth fighter is unbeaten in 33 contests, while the

25-year old-Martin is the only man to have gone the distance with

George Foreman in his 21-fight comback.

They share top billing with Derek Angol, who will defend the

Commonwealth cruiser-weight title against former British champion Andy

Straughn.

FORMER world heavy-weight champion Ingemar Johansson and Henry Cooper

are expected to attend the funeral of former British and Empire

heavy-weight champion Joe Erskine at St Mary's church, Cardiff, today.
