SCOTTISH cricket coach Omar Henry yesterday named the 15-strong

Scottish Thistle Select to make a historic tour to Pakistan in November.

With 10 under-25s it is the youngest composite Scottish side ever to

tour abroad. It is also the first time a Scottish Select side has toured

a full Test country.

With the blessing of the Scottish Cricket Union the tour is being

privately funded by the proprietors of the new White House Hotel,

Paisley, Tariq Malik and tour captain Badar Islam, a former professional

in Scotland and first-class player in Pakistan.

Henry, who has just signed a new three-year contract with the SCU to

continue as national coach, said: ''This initiative by Badar and Tariq

is a tremendous investment in Scottish cricket. Badar and I think the

same way, and this idea has been on our minds for a number of years. The

experience gained from this tour will be of great value to Scottish

cricket.'' But Henry will not be going with the side, due to possible

political complications.

Highlights will be games against Imran Khan's XI in Lahore, Majid

Khan's XI in Islamabad, and an ex-Pakistan Test Players XI in Karachi.

Other games against Pakistan ''County'' sides will be played in Karachi,

Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Full tour party:
