SCRATCH cards are being used in a campaign launched yesterday aimed at passing on simple health tips to Glasgow's young holidaymakers.

The scratch cards list seven true or false statements, such as ``Alcohol measures are often larger abroad'' and ``All ice is safe''. Prizes are awarded to anyone getting four or more correct answers, and include tapes, T-shirts, and holiday goodie bags.

The campaign, called Summer Protection 96, is being run by Greater Glasgow Health Board in response to research they carried out last year in Ibiza. The GGHB watched the behaviour of British holidaymakers and observed how their habits changed during their holiday. The findings suggest that young people on holiday often cast aside common sense and inhibitions normally shown throughout the year.

The free cards are available in 200 outlets throughout the city including shops, pubs, hairdressers, and pharmacies. The campaign will run for three weeks with the questions changing weekly.
