GRANGE, the defending champions, and surprise packet Ciba Kelburne, are the only sides in the first division of the National League with a full quota of points after their two weekend games.

Stuart McMorrow on his debut struck twice for Grange in the first of their two 4-2 successes on Saturday against Torbrex Wanderers. David Stephen found the target for the second day running in the defeat of Inverleith.

The biggest shock of the weekend was unquestionably Kelburne's 4-2 triumph yesterday at Linwood at the expense of MIM. Don Kerr was their man of the match with a double strike.

For Western Grasshopper after a performance of great potential on Saturday, when they inflicted a 10-0 defeat on Edinburgh University with Gordon Muir scoring five times on his debut, it was back to their old predictable selves yesterday.

They made the trip to Dundee for a showdown with Torbrex Wanderers who were still smarting from their defeat 24 hours earlier by Grange but in the end they had to settle for only a point.

Kevin Squire, the former Insights Menzieshill player back on his old patch at Maryfield, should, however, have sealed the points for Western late in the game from a penalty.

Unfortunately for the Glasgow men he hit the post with his effort, having earlier given Western a twelfth minute lead. Gordon Shepherd, who restricted his involvement in the game to striking penalty corners, because of injury, levelled the score from a set piece 10 minutes after half-time.

Edinburgh University overcame their annihilation by Western by overcoming Menzieshill 6-4 in their second outing. Oliver Voigt by converting a corner and a penalty was their top marksman. Chris Anderson was the scorer of three of Menzieshill's goals.
