ONE side effect of Livingston's dismal home form in contrast to excellent away results is that Jim Leishman's team now are carrying a larger travelling support. ``Going to away games is the only way to see them winning,'' quipped one member of Leishman's travelling army on Saturday.

The 1-0 win over bottom club Albion Rovers may have been expected, except that Rovers won their last meeting at Livingston. The visiting support boosted Saturday's attendance to 623, and the allegiance of the overwhelming majority was apparent by the loud cheer for David Alleyne's goal in 34 minutes after a couple of efforts by Jason Young and Lee Bailey were blocked.

Apart from the Barbadian's close-range effort, Livingston could not find a way past 'keeper Jim Moffat while Rovers created few chances worthy of the name.

Perhaps more predictable, in view of the length of time it is since Queen's Park last won there, was Brechin City's 4-0 home victory which extended their cushion in second place to five points over the Highland clubs. The Angus men took the aerial route, with two headers by Bill McNeill and one by Brian Mitchell preceding a shot by Graeme Christie on the hour mark.

With Caley Thistle's match against Alloa postponed until tomorrow, Ross County joined the Inverness team on the 45-point mark thanks to a 1-1 draw at Cowdenbeath. David Scott finished off an excellent move with a shot to give the home side an early lead, but Stuart Golabek hit back with a header.

If Ross County's promotion challenge seems to be faltering, Arbroath are disappearing out of the picture much more quickly. East Stirlingshire beat Brechin the previous week and Scott Sneddon, playing up front instead of in defence, knocked home a rebound midway in the second half for the only goal of the game against John Brogan's men.
