A MAN frightened staff at a Glasgow hospital where his mother had died, a court heard yesterday.

Jason McKenzie, 21, arrived at the accident and emergency unit of the city's Western Infirmary with a female friend at 1.20am last April, Glasgow Sheriff Court was told. He demanded the woman be given immediate attention.

Ms Catrina Bryden, prosecuting, said: ``He shouted at staff, `I hate these people. My mother died in here,' before shouting abuse at a policeman who was in the hospital on another matter.''

McKenzie, of Petershill Drive, Springburn, Glasgow, admitted a charge of breach of the peace and putting hospital staff in a state of fear and alarm and of possessing an offensive weapon. Sentence was deferred until January 27 for psychiatric reports.
