Jamie Langfield is a firm supporter of Scottish clubs who are importing overseas talent. Criticism of the influx of foreign signings has strengthened as fewer and fewer home-based players appear in our game.

Langfield, who will keep goal for Dundee at Livingston this afternoon, offers the fixture as the perfect example of his argument. ''Livingston have been great for the Scottish game since stepping up to the SPL. Jim Leishman and his team have done a superb job in bringing together their squad from all over the place.

''Others may criticise the number of foreign players in Scotland these days, but you won't hear any moaning from the Livingston support. If a team are doing well it doesn't matter to the supporters where the players come from. We know that from Dens Park, where the fans have taken to the quality of player brought. I do not see this game against Livingston being any less attractive to the fans because there will be so few Scots on show.''

The Scotland under-21 cap appreciates that he is under pressure to hold down the No.1 spot at Dens, as soon-to-arrive Chinese international Jiang Jin is set to become the latest challenger.

''I enjoy when I am under presure,'' he said. ''I know that I have to be on my toes. Earlier this year there was talk of Javier Broto coming to Dens, and now I have Argentinian Julian Speroni breathing down my neck.

''I aim to hold on to the jersey, and the best way to do that is to keep clean sheets.''
