Dunfermline launch Crawford appeal
After examining video evidence, Dunfermline are to appeal against the red card given to striker Stevie Crawford against Dundee on Wednesday night. Referee Willie Young also gave keeper Julian Speroni a yellow card in the same incident as Crawford, anxious to take a quick corner, wrestled with him for the ball.
Jimmy Calderwood, the Dunfermline manager, said: ''It is obvious from the video evidence that as Stevie swept his arm round to grasp the ball, his hand was open and not clenched. More or less the same thing happened 10 minutes earlier when the keeper was again wasting time. In the red card incident I believed he was guilty of histrionics.''
The SFA will decide today if there is enough evidence for an appeal to be heard next week.
Inter taking an interest in Speroni
Julian Speroni, the Dundee keeper, is being eyed up for a move to Serie A giants Inter Milan. The Italian club have been tracking the progress of the highly rated Argentinian for several weeks.
A representative of the club travelled to Dens Park last weekend to watch Speroni in action against St Johnstone and was said to have been impressed with the 22-year-old keeper's performance as he kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 win.

Flannery hit with three-match ban
Second-top Dumbarton yesterday received a blow to their promotion hopes as they aim to step up from the third division as striker Paddy Flannery was given a three- match suspension by the SFA. Flannery was sent off for a double booking last week in the win over Elgin City but now misses tomorrow against Peterhead, then Queen's Park, and a midweek match against leaders Brechin City.
Impressive Healy eyes World Cup
Colin Healy hopes he has clinched a World Cup place after his man-of-the-match Republic of Ireland debut. The Celtic midfielder was outstanding in the 2-0 friendly win over Russia and impressed manager Mick McCarthy. Now the 21-year-old, on loan with Coventry City, is setting his sights on Japan and Korea. ''I enjoyed every minute of the experience. Playing alongside Roy Keane in the middle of the field was something else.''
Coventry are keen to keep Healy for the rest of the season, which would boost his Ireland aspirations.
