Celtic defender Tosh McKinlay has joined Grasshopper Zurich on a short-term contract. The Swiss club are managed by Roy Hodgson, who believes McKinlay still has something to offer at the age of 34.

McKinlay, capped 22 times, has been at Parkhead for five years and picked up a Premier League title medal in 1998.

He will remain with the UEFA Cup contenders until at least the start of the winter break. McKinlay's agent Jock Brown, said: ''The chance of playing in Europe is a great attraction for Tosh at this stage of his career.''
